Taking my own advice

The most difficult thing for me to do in the world is to take the good advice I’ve given others to heart. Even when I see it work for other people, I can not seem to adopt it myself.

My most frequently given advice to people is two words: Just. Start. It doesn’t matter what you start with.If you can get the ball rolling, you will eventually find your way to the beginning, middle, and end of your project.

I can never seem to do that myself. I have this compulsion to do something in the correct order or in the correct way. And if I can’t figure out what correct looks like, then I freeze up and don’t do anything at all.

I’m in my 40s now, so something really has to change. I am hoping that carving out a tiny space for myself on the internet to just put on the page the thoughts I am having and the plans I might be making will allow me to get that first part done.

This is me. Just. Starting.
